Everything this app does — and what it means for your real life

Fync is a personal finance web app that puts your entire money picture — income, expenses, debts, goals, and loans you've made to others — on one screen. It tracks recurring transactions on flexible schedules, warns you before bills are due, and projects your balance a full year ahead. Built for real people, not accountants.

Your Money

Dashboard

The first screen you see: a monthly summary strip showing total income in, total spending out, and net for the month. Below that, a 12-month balance projection with a shortfall warning if your balance is predicted to hit zero. Upcoming transactions for the next 10 days and lending reminders are surfaced so nothing sneaks up on you.

You start every session already knowing where you stand — this month, and a year from now. No mental arithmetic required.

Transaction Manager

Add recurring or one-time transactions — income or spending — with a category, description, and amount. Choose from seven frequency options: once, weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly, bi-monthly, or yearly. Set each as automatic or manual payment, and control whether it triggers email reminders.

Your financial life is set up once and calculated from then on. Update a bill amount in one place; your forecasts and summaries update everywhere.

Payment Tracker

For manual payments — rent, tuition, anything paid by hand — Fync monitors what's overdue (looking back 90 days) and what's coming in the next 10 days. Record a payment with the actual amount and optional notes. Overdue items stay flagged until you confirm payment; they don't silently clear on their own.

Manual payments stop falling through the cracks. Fync keeps asking until you've confirmed you've paid — because "I meant to" isn't a receipt.

Financial Calendar

A full monthly grid showing every scheduled transaction occurrence, colour-coded by type. Navigate months forward to preview upcoming obligations. Export any month as a PDF for your records or for sharing with a partner or accountant.

You see your money the same way you see your schedule. Heavy weeks announce themselves visually — you can plan around them before they arrive.

Staying on Top

Daily Email Reminders

At 8 AM in your timezone, Fync sends a digest listing any overdue manual transactions (flagged with how many days late) followed by everything due in the next 10 days. Each line has a one-click "Record Payment" button. Family members or partners can be added as recipients so they see the same digest you do.

You can stay current without opening the app. The email arrives, you act, done. Your partner sees it too — no more "why didn't you tell me the rent was due?"

Financial Forecast

A balance projection chart showing up to 365 days ahead, starting from whatever balance you set. A spending-by-category chart breaks down where money goes. Set an alert threshold — Fync marks the chart if your projected balance dips below your chosen minimum at any point in the window.

Know in January that you'll run low in March — with enough time to do something about it instead of being surprised.

Planning Ahead

Debt Payoff Planner

Enter every debt you carry: name, current balance, APR%, and minimum payment. Choose a payoff strategy — Avalanche (highest interest first, saves the most money) or Snowball (lowest balance first, builds momentum). Fync calculates your months to debt-free, total amount paid, total interest paid, and a month-by-month payoff schedule for each debt.

Debt stops feeling abstract. There's a date. Choosing the right strategy can save thousands in interest — Fync shows you exactly how much.

Savings Goal Calculator

Enter a target amount — a vacation, a down payment, an emergency fund — and a timeline in months. Fync calculates the extra monthly income required to get there. A chart plots your current trajectory (red), the required trajectory (green), and the target (dashed line), so the gap or your surplus is immediately visible.

A goal without a number is a wish. Fync makes it concrete: here's what you need to set aside monthly, starting today.

Money You've Lent Out

Lending Tracker

A complete record per borrower: name, address, email, and phone. Choose a lending reason from pre-written templates — General Loan, Advance from Employer, Urgent Personal, Car Repair, or fully Custom — and Fync tailors the reminder message tone to match the situation. Set automated email and SMS reminders on a schedule you choose: daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly, in the borrower's preferred language. Log every excuse given, with the date and their promised return date, creating a quiet paper trail. Log every partial payment with amount, date, method, and notes. Review the full history of every reminder sent. Canadian users get Interac e-Transfer details embedded in reminders.

You stop being the awkward one who has to keep texting. Fync follows up on schedule, professionally, with a tone that matches the relationship. Excuses with promised dates are on the record — and Fync remembers them even when you choose to forget.

Account & Access

Profile & Notification Recipients

Update your name, phone, and Interac e-Transfer email. Add family members or partners as notification recipients — they receive the same daily reminder emails you do. Manage your Pro subscription through Stripe's secure portal. Send a test reminder at any time to confirm delivery is working.

Shared finances become truly shared. Your partner gets the same information at the same time, without a phone call every time something's due.

Mobile App

Fync detects a mobile browser and redirects automatically to m.fync.money — a fully optimized mobile version. Every feature is available: transactions, payments, debts, goals, lending, calendar, and forecast. No download required; it works like a native app in the browser.

Record a payment the moment you make it, from your phone. Your mobile and desktop views are always in sync — they're the same data.

Security

Every login requires an OTP code sent to your email — two-factor by default. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Payment action links in reminder emails use HMAC-signed tokens that can't be guessed or replicated. All connections are HTTPS. Sessions are isolated between environments. Brute-force login attempts are rate-limited. No third-party analytics or advertising trackers are used anywhere in the app.

Your financial data gets the same care as a bank applies — not because it's required, but because it's the only acceptable standard for information this personal.
